Why does the skin become dehydrated?
Dehydrated skin is a temporary condition of an improper water balance in the skin's upper layer. Various weather conditions such as cold or hot air and wind, washing face with hot water, using hard soaps and detergents are frequent cases of skin dehydration. Dehydrated skin can also be the result of improper nutrition, high amounts of sugars or salts in the foods, alcohol, smoking, or taking certain medications. Drinking insufficient amounts of liquids means that your skin does not have enough water and can become dehydrated.
Using cosmetics that do not fit a certain skin type also leads to skin dehydration. Most common types of skin that are prone to dehydration are oily, mixed and acne prone skin because they are treated with acne reducing cosmetics which are usually aggressive on the skin and dry it out.
How does the skin become dehydrated?
In comparison to dry skin, dehydrated skin contains all of the needed lipids in its layers, however the skin still lacks water. Washing or bathing is followed by an unpleasant feeling of skin tightness and itching as the lipid layer has been washed off, causing moisture loss.
How to take care of dehydrated skin?
Two of the first and foremost steps are proper protection in a particular type of weather and drinking optimal amounts of water (or other fluids) – about 2 liters per day. It is recommended to adjust the level of humidity in your living space. For this you may use a humidifier, or if such is unavailable place a wet towel or a pot of water onto a heater to evaporate and increase the level of humidity. Twice a month give your face a soft peeling followed by a moisturizer. The peeling will remove dead cells from the upper epithelium and ensure that the cosmetics which are applied after are well absorbed. Following the peeling, apply a face mask appropriate to your skin type and finish with a moisturizing face cream that will nourish the skin and let you feel comfortable and protected.
The MIRATI Night Cream formula designed with organic Ghee butter, organic Aloe Vera, organic shea butter, honeysuckle essential oil, and extra vitamin E nourishes and soothes your face giving it the necessary rest and refreshment. Your skin will be smooth, soft and protected.
